Ballet for Brain Injury Online Classes

Do you have an acquired brain injury, live in a regional or rural area in Queensland and want to join an online exercise program?

Wednesdays, 11:30am–12:00pm | 26 August – 21 October 2026

Queensland Ballet is teaming up with researchers from The University of Queensland to pilot and deliver
the successful Ballet for Brain Injury program as a live online program.

What’s the Ballet for Brain Injury program?

A tailored dance program for people living with a brain injury, underpinned by research and delivered by
Queensland Ballet’s experienced Teaching Artists. You can participate even if you have never danced
before - it’s about trying something new and fun, reducing isolation and meeting others with similar lived
experience!

What’s involved in the study?

  • 10x weekly group sessions of the Ballet for Brain Injury program delivered online on Wednesdays, 11:30am–12:00pm | 26 August – 21 October 2026
  • 3x online surveys (completed before and after the 10-week program) and one interview about your experiences in the study

Who can participate? 

To participate, you must be 18 years old or over and;

Living with an acquired brain injury, post-stroke, or post-brain cancer

  1. Be medically stable
  2. Have experienced your injury more than 6 months ago
  3. Be living at home or in a community setting in regional or rural Queensland
  4. Be willing to participate in a 10-week Ballet for Brain Injury dance program
  5. Have access to a mobile device or computer with Internet access and a webcam
  6. Have not previously attended more than 4 in-person Ballet for Brain Injury classes
