David Johnston is a registered clinical psychologist, supervisor, and researcher with experience across clinical, forensic, and academic settings in both Australia and the United Kingdom.

David has worked in a range of public health and research environments, including positions at New South Wales Health, the Black Dog Institute, and the University of Cambridge’s MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit. His work has focused on developing and delivering evidence-based treatments for individuals experiencing complex and co-occurring psychological disorders, as well as contributing to the advancement of transdiagnostic and digital mental health interventions.

David joined the RECOVER Research Injury Centre in 2026, where he is contributing to the INSPIRE Feasibility and Pilot Trial, an innovative study exploring the use of virtual reality to treat driving anxiety.
