Joshua Simmich is a physiotherapist who joined the RECOVER Injury Research Centre in the role of Research Officer in September 2020. He is part of the technology-enabled rehabilitation team, led by Professor Trevor Russell, which focuses on developing more effective and efficient health services supported by technology innovation.

Joshua Simmich received his PhD from The University of Queensland. His PhD project explored the potential for games and game features to be incorporated into rehabilitation to increase patient engagement, specifically on how active video games and wearable sensors can help people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease be physically active. His other research interests include mHealth, healthcare automation, artificial intelligence and the use of serious games for physiotherapy education.
