RECOVER Injury Research Centre is conducting various studies into the treatment of whiplash injuries. Help us prevent whiplash pain by being a part of a leading Australian research program investigating the most effective treatments for this condition.

Aim: To compare the effectiveness of paracetamol, naproxen, and both naproxen and paracetamol in reducing daily neck pain and prevent chronic pain 3 and 6 months after injury in ‘at-risk’ individuals.

Type of volunteers needed:

  • Injury within the 2 weeks following a road traffic crash
  • Suffering neck pain

What is involved?

Participation will include treatment for your whiplash injury in addition to completing questionnaires and daily symptom diaries.

What’s in it for me?

You will be given a booklet containing guideline-recommended exercises and advice on how to manage their pain that they can use throughout. This will complement your physiotherapy treatment. Owing to the individualised design of N-of-1 trials, each participant will receive all treatments. This will allow us to find out which treatment works best for the participant on an individual level.  The participant’s doctor will receive a personalised medication report at the end of the trial, which can guide medication treatment recommendations.
