PhD topic: Using wearables to determine the trajectories of physiological factors after whiplash injury

Wanyun completed her bachelor’s degree at Sichuan University and her Master’s degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. For the last three years, Wanyun has been a practising  physiotherapist in China, working specifically on musculoskeletal disorders. She is passionate about helping people suffering from chronic pain following injury.

With the aim of drawing a more precise map of the rehabilitation trajectory, Wanyun’s research will explore the influence of physiological factors on whiplash injury recovery following a minor road traffic injury. Signals such as sleep latency, heart rate variability, and physical activity will be collected remotely via a smartwatch, which will identify their underlying relationships with pain development.
